Full Day Winemaking Class - Saturday November 14, 2026
Class to be held at Seavey Vineyard in Napa on November 14, 2026
Come learn to manage the most critical steps of finishing winemaking by joining Jim Duane in person for a full day curriculum of practical winemaking. All of the instruction will be hands on. The focus will be on interpreting wine chemistries, managing the finishing stages of fermentation, and the decisions that shape your current vintage. The class will cover:
Laboratory analysis and interpretation of wine at the finishing stage
Fermentation completion and troubleshooting
Strategies for smart use of SO2
Critical decision making points for white, red, and rosé wines
Cold and heat stabilization
Basic winery equipment
Blending of Seavey Vineyard wines
On Saturday, November 14th we will start at 10 a.m. and finish about 4 p.m. Lunch and wines will be included. I’m capping the event at ten participants so that we can stay focused. This will be useful for wine professionals, but also accessible and fun for anyone with a basic passion for winemaking. Please bring all of your winemaking questions.
